Johnny Cash fans can see an incredible night of music as the ‘Man In Black’ show rolls into Mullingar. ‘The Man In Black’ a Johnny Cash Tribute is taking place in Mullingar Arts Centre on Wednesday 15th February . The show presented by Tommy Swarbrigg is not to be missed as it pays homage to one of the greatest country artists of all time.
Direct from Ohio USA, Terry Lee Goffee and his band perform this tribute. Cash’s own family has endorsed this show. Joanne, Johnny’s sister quotes “He looks and sings like my brother, but most of all, he brings the same passion and sincerity Johnny brought to his music. Its a wonderful show”. Terry Lee will perform some of Cash’s signature tunes. Classics that have stood the test of time in an ever changing music industry.’Ring Of Fire’, ‘I Walk the Line’, ‘Folsom Prison Blues’,’I Got Strips’ and other classics will make the setlist. Cash fans who see his “American Recordings” with renown producer Rick Rubin as relevant to his musical legacy, they will be treated to possible covers of Nine Inch Nails ‘Hurt’ and Depeche Mode ‘Personal Jesus’. Terry Lee delivers his set with raw emotion, this is not just a covers band. Terry Lee is not an impersonator, the band encapsulates everything that is Johnny Cash. The “Man in Black” show will perform 34 classics from all periods of Cash’s music career.
Johnny Cash (1932-2003)
Johnny Cash (1932-2003) is one of the greatest artists of our time. A highly talented singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor and author Cash is a house hold name and has influenced music across generations. Cash has record sales of 90 million records. The Johnny Cash albums discography has 55 studio albums, 6 live albums, 10 Gospel albums, 4 Christmas albums and 10 Concept albums. He constantly appears on compilation albums and has collaborated with some of the greatest artists like Bob Dylan and Elvis.
Johnny Cash was an activist for Native Americans. Although he carefully portrayed an outlaw image, he actually never served a prison sentence. His attachment to the outlaw produced his two great live albums ‘Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison (1968) and Johnny Cash at San Quentin (1969). Both albums were No1 in the Billboard country album music and subsequently crossed over to the No 1 position on the billboard pop album charts.
Cash’s American Recordings and the biographical film ‘Walk the Line’ (2005) starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon introduced his music to a new generation. Johnny Cash died at the age of 71 less than four months after the death of his wife June Carter. Cash leaves behind some of the greatest music of our time.
