The Great Trade in Mullingar

The Great Trade in Mullingar for one night only!

This Friday 3 March see The Great Trade in Mullingar for one night only. The venue for this much anticipated gig is in Smiddy’s Bar (aka The Stables). Collaboration with local singer/songwriters Peter Doran and Brian Murphy gives us The Great Trade. Doors for the gig are 21:00 with tickets €10 on the door or €9 from PeterDoran.com. Support on the night is from Kildare native and songwriter Hally.

The Great Trade – A Snap Shot

The gig is a must for the fans of the songwriter. A one off night of original music which is influenced by Simon and Garfunkel. Peter and Brian are renown especially in Mullingar. Having released four solo albums Peter joined up with Brian’s band Arrow in the Sky for 13 gig tour of Ireland in 2011. Sharing like minded musical influences such as Tom Waits, hence Brian would go on to play on Peter next two albums.

Touring Europe together they penned the first songs for their new collaboration, The Great Trade. Over the last year the lads have been writing for the future album in waiting. Brian plays with Cronin, local band fronted by Johnny Cronin.

Hally

Support for the Great Trade in Mullingar is Kildare songwriter Hally. Hally who is currently involved in an ambitious project called “Peeling Onions”: one song released every week for the entire year. Showcasing songs from ‘Peeling Onions’ and playing older songs music fans are in for a treat even prior to The Great Trade. Playing The Stables venue before in the late ’90’s, ironically Peter would have been in the crowd that night and the support would have been a young Damien Rice who would have influeneced Peter’s style.

Furthermore The Rockin’ ‘Gar have profiled Peter previously, please check out our post 10 Years Since Peter Doran released Wood“. Finally continued success to The Great Trade as we anticipate an album.
