Happy Birthday Radio Nova

On the back of their new album release ‘First Kiss of Love’ Cronin (aka The Aftermath)  are touring the album with gigs in London, Leeds and Dublin. Following on from a busy summer touring with also an appearance at ‘Electric Picnic’, on Friday 14th October they will play a birthday bash for the classic rock station Radio Nova. Radio Nova is a Dublin based ‘guitar based music’ station that launched on 1st September 2010. Nova transmits to Dublin’s commuter belt including Dublin Wicklow, Kildare and Meath.Cronin

Cronin formed originally as The Aftermath. They scooped three top 20 singles under The Aftermath touring throughout Ireland and Europe. A mod/indie band made up of brothers Johnny and Mike Cronin, Fiachra Milner and Brian Murphy. The Cronin brothers originally from Longford but were raised in Leeds. Their first album ‘Friendlier Up Here’ was released on 25th April 2008. Stand out  tracks ‘Are you not wanting me yet?’, Northern Lingerie’ and ‘All I want is for you to be happy’,on what is a great debut album.

Cronin go from strength to strength. Radio Nova birthday bash which will take place in 37 Dawson Street, Dublin will gain the band even greater exposure. Noel Gallagher from Oasis is a great fan of what Cronin do. He left a charity gig for Hoping Foundation(raises funds for Palestinian orphans) at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, that Cronin performed at, Gallagher covered his face with their ep in front of his face while he was being papped.

First Kiss of Love

A three year labour of love the album title is ‘First Kiss of Love’. Mike describes the album as ”quite a retro album and we hold our hands up to that”. ”The influence of our hero’s is all over it for everyone to hear. We sort of had to get these fantasies out of our system before we can move on as songwriters.’’ The album has been 3 years in the making recording at their very own studio. Collaborations from Ger McDonnell, Karl Odlum and Terry Edwards.

Cronin have supported top acts such as ‘The Streets’, ‘The Frames’, ‘The Mission’ and Razorlight. Their recording studio transmission Rooms has seen the likes of Kodaline and The Strypes record. They have had music featured in two major motion pictures ( The Lone Ranger & The Hardy Bucks).They have performed and collaborated with The Pogues front-man Shane McGowan. McGowan dubbed them ”pure Celtic soul”.

The band have received many endorsements with Peter Holidai (The Radiators from Outer Space) saying ”Cronin manage to consistently produce quality songs produced to the highest standard that reflects their love of not just music but the history of music. Top class band!”. Steve Wickham from The Waterboys saying ” Epic stuff, great singing, spine tingling magic from Cronin.” Hot Press magazine saying ”Cooler than a refrigerated polar bear”
